Meet Safely
- Meet in a public, well-lit location whenever possible.
- For higher-value items, consider meeting at a police safe-exchange area, bank or other monitored location.
- Tell someone where you are going and who you are meeting.
- Avoid inviting strangers into your home unless the item truly requires pickup there.
Inspect Before You Pay
- Look over the item carefully and make sure it matches the listing.
- Test electronics, tools and other working items before completing the transaction when practical.
- For vehicles, verify the VIN, title and seller information before paying.
Watch for Scams
- Be cautious of buyers or sellers who pressure you to act immediately.
- Do not send verification codes, passwords or account login information to anyone.
- Be suspicious of overpayments, unusual shipping requests, fake checks and requests to return extra money.
- Do not rely on a screenshot as proof that a payment was received. Verify the payment in your own account.
Protect Your Personal Information
Share only the information needed to arrange the transaction. Do not post sensitive financial information, passwords, Social Security numbers or other private account information.
Report Problems
If a listing appears fraudulent, unsafe, prohibited or misleading, use the Report Listing feature so it can be reviewed by the In Your Zone administrator.
